I'm sure (or at least I hope) that other users feel the same way, which explains why Neko Atsume has risen to popularity.Īs for marketing, the game has branded itself really well. The feeling when a cat brings you a memento or seeing a rare cat sitting in your yard is surprisingly satisfying and rewarding. ![]() Maybe this is just because I'm a former cat owner and current cat lover, but I feel responsible for taking care of these cats. I promptly refill their food and collect their gifts, and then close the app feeling satisfied. I admit, every morning I wake up and immediately check on my cats. At least for me, Neko Atsume keeps me hooked by giving me a sense of responsibility. Why was this seemingly pointless game so addicting? But I think I've figured it out. ![]() For the first week of playing, I had this app front and center on my home screen and would constantly check on my cats every time I unlock my phone. I've spent more time than I'd comfortably admit playing this game.
